April 2023

Dear all,

April starts tomorrow with the Little Day Out here at the Mt Eden Village Centre. Don’t miss it!

We also have the Repair Cafe this Sunday 2 April from 3.00pm to 6.00pm as part of the Albert-Eden & Puketāpapa Eco Festival. With a multitude of sewing experts, electricians, computer technicians, woodwork specialists and general handy folk, they are ready to restore your treasured items back to full use. The Cafe is organised by the Chinese Conservation Education Trust to reduce landfill waste. Items need to be light enough to carry in your hands and the Trust asks that you arrive by 5.30pm as the Cafe closes promptly at 6.00pm.

Join Eden Arts on Monday 3 April at 7.30pm for a Chamber Music in Mt Eden  Concert.  It is a delightful opportunity to hear some of New Zealands finest musicians perform Mozart and Brahms in the heart of Mt Eden. The Concert features Jessica Oddie, Simeon Broom, Alex McFarlane, Monique Lapins, Matthias Balzat and Ken Ichinose playing Mozart String Quintet No.1 in B-flat Major and Brahms String Sextet No. 2 in G Major Op.36. Tickets available by email or door sale.

Looking for an activity to do with the family on Easter Saturday 8 April? The Mt Eden Craft Market will be here from 9.30am to 3.00pm with a fabulous selection of quality, unique, hand made products. Purchase from any stallholder to enter the draw for a gorgeous bespoke Easter bunny and her stash of Easter eggs. Facebook for more.

The Mt Eden Wellbeing Market is here on Saturday 29 April from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Facebook for more.

Village Music is especially proud to bring Jackie Bristow from Nashville to our old Mt Eden Hall on Friday 14 April at 8.00pm. Jackie has an impressive catalogue of enduring songs and recordings, and her songcraft and compelling live performances have seen her share the bill and a personal connection with many of the world’s musical elite, including Bonnie Raitt, Boz Skaggs, Chris Isaak, Tommy Emmanuel, Steve Miller Band, Foreigner, Art Garfunkel, Phoebe Snow and John Waite. As always, bring friends, bring family, bring your ears and BYO. Tickets and more information is available here.

Tomorrow Saturday 1 April our popular Little Day Out event is back from 10.00am to 1.00pm with JP magic, pony rides, Nanogirl science, Junky Monkey play, live music, weird and wonderful animals, bake sale, book swap, crafts and more. The event is organised by the Mt Eden Methodist Church Charitable Trust with generous support from Ray White Mt Eden, Foundation North and the Albert-Eden Local Board, to celebrate the great community we live in. We also thank Mt Eden businesses Chapter, Xoong, Timeout, Roses Florist, City Cake Company, Sushi wa Kim Chef as well as Auckland Little Libraries for their support.

Ngā mihi/Best wishes
