We are excited to start the month of May with some new events to the Village Centre and of course our popular regulars.

Join Natallia Ramanchuk and NZ Champion John Flower for an Argentine Tango lesson in the Church tomorrow Tuesday 2 May from 6.30pm. Come and learn something new, or brush up on your dance skills. Come by yourself or with friends for a fun night of dance. More information is here.

The Eden Arts Trust proudly launches their new free lunchtime community music programme Music in Eden in the heart of Mt Eden. Starting this Friday 5 May the Church will come alive with music every Friday with musicians playing a variety of genres. Ever popular Jazz ensemble Nairobi Trio launches Music in Eden this Friday, cellist Hyein Lee with pianist Katherine Austin is on 12 May, Kaha Trio on 19 May and pianist Gemma Lee on 26 May. Join us from 12.00noon to 1.00pm. The Music in Eden featured artwork is by Mt Eden artist John Horner, entitled “Mount Eden from Walters Road”, and painted specially for this event.

Jude is back with her renowned Brainfit for Life classes from Monday 8 May at 1.00pm. Give your brain a weekly workout while learning some practical, fun new strategies that will give you increased confidence and self-belief regarding your memory. These 4 week face-to-face, facilitated workshops will help you build and strengthen brain connections which serve as a valuable buffer against memory loss and brain overload, regardless of age. Village Music has a fabulous line up of musicians for your listening pleasure at soiree number 3 on Friday 19 May at 8.00pm. The Frank Talbot Saxtet takes you into the thrivin’ an j ivin’ world of Auckland’s JAZZ scene for an evening of Franks compositions and fresh takes on some contemporary classes. Some of Auckland’s top players will join musical forces and allow for freedom to explore improvisatory ideas. Joining Frank for this very special evening will be Forrest Thorp on Trumpet, Jono Tan on Trombone, Kathleen Tomacruz on Guitar, Rhohil Kishore on Drums and Mostyn Cole on Upright Bass. We were packed on the last Saturday of April for the first Preloved Fashion Market and we are so pleased they will be back on Saturday 27 May from 9.00am to 2.00pm. Take your time to browse the many stalls selling preloved clothes, shoes, jewellery, accessories and much more! The Mt Eden Wellbeing Market will be here in the Hall and Lounge on the same day from 10.00am to 3.00pmThe Mt Eden Craft Market is here on Saturday 13 May from 9.30am to 3.00pm. Facebook for more.

 Save the Date for a Gala Fundraising Concert on Saturday 27 May at 7.00pm. The Eden Arts Trust and Mt Eden Village Centre are celebrating the arrival of a fabulous Yamaha C3 Grand Piano to the Centre to support the aspirations of our musical community. Funds raised will benefit new music programmes such as Music in Eden and others to be announced. Visit Eden Arts and the Village Centre digital channels closer to the date for more details.
