Dear all,
We have something for everyone this September to celebrate the arrival of Spring!
One of the highlights of the Eden Arts Trust calendar is the annual Mt Eden Chamber Music Festival which is across Friday 6 September to Sunday 8 September. Festival Artistic Director Simeon Broom presents a wonderful programme of music from Shostakovish to Brahms. We are so fortunate to have musicians the calibre of James Jin (violin), Dominic Lee (cello), Xing Wang (piano), the BonaNZa Trombone Quartet, Helen Lee (viola), James Tennant (cello) and Katherine Austin (piano) and of course Simeon (violin) grace our beautiful Church. For more details visit here and email to book.
VillageMusic is excited to bring recently formed LOVE SQUARE to the old Hall on Friday 20 September at 8.00pm for an evening of some of the most infectious jazz and soul-inspired music you will have heard in a while – these guys are HOT. “A musical journey from the Bolivian highlands to New York’s basement jazz clubs. From Kingston to Addis Ababa via Aotearoa. Three of the city’s hottest players get busy on all their favourite axes!” You just know this will be a fun night with some of the best musicianship New Zealand has to offer. LOVE SQUARE are Nick Atkinson, Finn Scholes and Chris O’Connor. Bring friends, bring family and BYO. Tickets here.
When things go wrong in our life and we encounter difficult situations we tend to regard the situation itself as the problem. But if we learn to maintain a peaceful mind, we can be happy all the time regardless of our circumstances. Kadampa Meditation brings you The Art of Acceptance, a half-day course on Saturday 7 September where you will learn Buddhist techniques to help you respond to difficulties with a positive mind. In this way, we will be able to accept painful feelings, overcome minds such as anger and frustration, and discover true inner peace. Enrolments are here.
Come and visit the highly regarded Mt Eden Craft Market which is here on Saturday 14 September from 9.30am to 3.00pm. This is a great opportunity to support local craftspeople and find loads of beautiful handmade treasures and tasty treats, perfect for yourself or to gift. Thinking about Christmas already? The Craft Market has your gifting worries sorted! Facebook for more information.

If you are a local and have been thinking about making small steps for nature, consider joining the rat trappers of the Maungawhau Ecological Halo. Pop into the Village Centre Office Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 12.00noon and if you reside within the Halo area you can pick up a free rat trap and be shown how to use it. Halo members recently put in some awesome mahi weeding in the rock forest at Almorah Reserve, caputured brilliantly by cartoonist Toby Morris in the Sunday Star Times. Shout out to all the volunteers and of course Halo Ecological Restoration Advisor Phil for bringing us all together for nature.
Please always call us on 09 631 0678 or email manager@mtedenvillagecentre.co.nz before coming in to visit us in the Office.
Ngā mihi/Best wishes
