August 2026

Dear all

As we head into Spring we have a busy August here at the Mt Eden Village Centre.

“When you’re a heart surgeon, that’s what you do…. If you are his wife, you tag along and find something useful to do.” Join us for a screening of The Doctor’s Wife on Friday 14 August, about local Mt Eden residents Dr Alan Kerr and Hazel Kerr. After retiring from a distinguished career as a cardiac surgeon in New Zealand, Dr Kerr led a Kiwi team to Gaza and the West Bank to operate on children with heart disease. What started as a two week visit became an enduring 20 year commitment. The screening is followed by a Q&A with Alan, Hazel and the director. Documentary starts 6.30pm with hot drinks from 6.00pm. Please register here for your free ticket. This screening is booked out but add your name to the waiting list for information about an additional screening.
