We have a busy November with quite a focus on the visual arts this month!

The NZ Fellowship of Artists are here with an Art Exhibition and Sale of works in the Foyer. The Exhibition is open daily from Friday 31 October to Sunday 2 November from 10.00am to 4.00pm. The Fellowship are a group of people who have a great interest in learning how to draw and paint and are based at Gifford Gallery at 27A Poronui Street. More information is here.

Join Eden Arts for the Artists in Eden Christmas Special here on Saturday 23 November from 10.00am to 2.00pm. The day will include sale of gorgeous small artworks as well as the traditional Artists in Eden vibe of artists at work and live music during the day. Find treasures by longstanding favourites, as well as artists from more recent initiatives. All works will be priced at $200 or $300. Do you love swing dance and the swing jazz culture? We have the Rhythm Club meeting here on Sundays 2 November and 30 November. Beginner Collegiate Shag class starts at 3.15pm, with a Shag and Balboa friendly Social from 4.15pm. Visit Facebook here for more. With only two Markets until Christmas, don’t miss the highly regarded Mt Eden Village Craft Market here on Saturday 8 November from 9.30am to 3.00pm. The Market is an amazing NZ Handmade market with talented and passionate crafters you will enjoy meeting and admiring. The Craft Market has your Christmas gifting worries sorted! Local resident groups have arranged a Public Meeting about Plan Change 120 Housing Intensification here on Tuesday 11 November at 7.00pm. Auckland Council planners will explain how the proposal will affect Mt Eden and Kingsland, and the process for making submissions. Plan Change 120 will provide for high and medium rise apartment blocks throughout much of Mt Eden and Kingsland, and if it goes ahead will completely change the face of Auckland. The proposal will be open for submissions until 5.00pm on Friday 19 December. Information about the Plan Change is here.

This month we have the Auckland Somatic Dance Collective here on Fridays 14 November and 21 November at 6.45pm. Somatic dance is a guided free form movement journey deep into the layers of the body, supported by a carefully curated soundscape in a non judgemental space. Auckland Somatic Dance are a collective of certified somatic dance facilitators and DJ’s who regularly offer dances in Auckland. Follow them on Facebook here.

Yay! We host another Date Night in Mt Eden Village on Saturday 15 November! The Mt Eden Village Business Association and Bricks 4 Kidz have teamed up to provide FREE babysitting and activities for kids 5+ between 6.00pm and 9.00pm for parents or caregivers dining at participating restaurants in the Village. Please register here and note proof of dining will be required on pick up.

The Mt Eden Wellbeing Market is here on Saturday 29 November from 10.00am to 3.00pm and is Central Auckland’s regular monthly mind, body and spirit market. The Timeless Preloved Fashion Market is here on the same day and has a focus on preloved, retro and vintage clothing and accessories.

The Annual General Meeting for the Trust that runs the Mt Eden Village Centre is coming up on Monday 25 November at 6.00pm. The Trustees warmly invite you all to attend to hear about the Trust and what we do here at the Centre. Please RSVP via email manager@mtedenvillagecentre.co.nz.
