August 2025

Dear all,

As we head into Spring we have a busy August here at the Mt Eden Village Centre.

One of the highlights of the Eden Arts Trust calendar is the annual Mt Eden Chamber Music Festival which celebrates 10 years across Friday 29 August to Sunday 31 August. Festival Artistic Director Simeon Broom presents a wonderful programme from Messiaen to Beethoven, Salina Fisher to Grieg. Musicians the calibre of Ken Ichinose (cello), Alexander McFarlane (viola), Jessica Oddie (violin), Xing Wang (piano), James Jin (violin), Stephen De Pledge (piano), James Tennant (cello), Peter Scholes (clarinet) and of course Simeon (violin), along with poet Faumuina Felolini Maria Tafuna’l, grace our beautiful Church. These will be sellout concerts so email to get your tickets now at info@edenarts.art.

The Character Coalition host a Public Meeting here on Thursday 28 August at 7.00pm to discuss The Future of Your Neighbourhood. Recent directives to Auckland Council from the Minister for Housing and the Minister for Auckland about new housing and zoning will seriously impact Mt Eden, Sandringham, Kingsland, Morningside and Grey Lynn neighbourhoods. Do you care about your neighbourhood? Do you want a say in its future? Come along to this meeting to make sure your voice is heard. Their website is here.
