Dear all,
Join us at the Mt Eden Village Centre for a busy May of events and classes!
Harry Lyon really needs no introduction and it is a real pleasure to welcome him back to VillageMusic here on Friday 22 May at 8.00pm. Harry is joined by Tony Waine on bass and vocals, and Jean McAllister on guitars, keys and vocals. Today, after 60 years in South Pacific Rock n Roll, Harry is still in demand playing sold out shows and festivals fronting a reformed Hello Sailor. VillageMusic is the perfect venue for a concert like this – intimate and convivial – here is the ticketing link. See you at the door.

So excited to have both the Timeless Preloved Fashion Market and the Mt Eden Wellbeing Market here on Saturday 30 May from 10.00am to 3.00pm. The Fashion Market has a focus on preloved, retro and vintage clothing and accessories and is in the Church. The Wellbeing Market is Central Auckland’s regular monthly mind, body and spirit market and is in the Hall and Lounge. Visit their Facebook pages for updates here and here.
It was such a privilege to host ecologist Dr Josie Galbraith recently to talk about Native Birds in Auckland. She gave us hope that community engagement can really make a difference. We even made it into the NZ Herald online – check out the article here for some of Josie’s insights! Thanks to Phil Simpson/Urban Ark – Manawa Taiao for driving this initiative and Albert-Eden & Puketāpapa Eco Festival for their support. Pop into the Village Centre Monday to Friday 9.00am to 12.00noon if you would like to have a chat about the HALO project and pest control in the Maungawhau/Mt Eden area. We have rat traps and safety boxes you can pick up if you live in the project area!
Looking ahead to June, the young people of IMAgEN8 exhibit here from Friday 5 June as part of the Auckland Festival of Photography. We often view nature as a static backdrop, but through the lenses of these young artists, we see a world that is vividly alive. Visit here for details about the exhibition and here for information about IMAgEN8.
Ngā mihi/Best wishes
