Read on for some of the events and classes we host this July at the Mt Eden Village Centre.
We are excited to have the Auckland City Brass Band here for a free concert on Friday 5 July at 7.00pm. It is a wonderful opportunity to hear talented musicians presenting their performances for the upcoming NZ National Contest. Come and enjoy Junior to experienced Senior soloists, cornets, trombones, tenor horns, small ensembles, a trombone sextet and a 12 piece. The conductor of the Auckland City Brass is talented trombonist Mark Close. Everyone is welcome and no tickets are required. More information about the band is here.
Enjoy an evening of Twisted Covers here in the Church on Saturday 27 July at 7.00pm. A light, relaxed evening of popular songs with unique twists will allow you to switch off, sit back and enjoy beautiful music on a Saturday evening. The Silver Cadillacs kick off with Golden Oldie favourites, the ShapeCutterz share their takes on modern classics, while headliner Ravi the Poet invites his extremely talented musical friends to join him in creating a magical evening. Yoga with Phoebe starts here in the Hall on Thursday 11 July from 7.00pm to 8.30pm. Offering weekly classes for Hatha Yoga and Yoga Nidra, Phoebe is really looking forward to meeting you all. VillageMusic’s 5th Soirée of the year on Friday 19 July at 8.00pm features Brave Caitlin Smith’s Imaginary Band presenting material from songbird Caitlin’s new album and her interpretations of songs that influence her own compositions. Lance McNicoll on Guitar and Steven Cournane on Drums round out this fabulous trio. Kadampa Meditation have a half day course here focusing on Creating Mental Space on Saturday 20 Julyfrom 9.45am. At present our mind moves from thought to thought without control. This state of inner turbulence and busyness is the basis of our anxiety and depression and makes our inner world cluttered and unpeaceful. On this course you will learn special meditations taught by Buddha that dissolve the turbulence and negativities away, and in this way reveal the natural peace and clarity of your mind. The Timeless Preloved Fashion Market is here on Saturday 27 July from 10.00am to 2.00pm. The market has a focus on preloved, retro and vintage clothing and accessories and is here on the last Saturday of every month. The Mt Eden Wellbeing Market is in the Hall and Lounge on the same day from 10.00amto 3.00pm and is Central Auckland’s regular monthly mind, body and spirit market.
Now is the season to get the body moving with dance classes here in the Hall. On Mondays we have Swing Out Central here with regular Beginner and Intermediate Balboa classes. The next class block starts 29 July so there is no excuse not to sign up here. We also have Street Swing here every Tuesday with West Coast Swing classes and social dancing.
