How to get here
The suburb of Mt Eden is situated five kilometres south of the centre of Auckland City. It is a vibrant community centred around Mt Eden Village, a charming shopping area with many small shops, cafes and restaurants. At the very heart of the community and centrally located within the village is the Mt Eden Village Centre.
By bus
Events at the Mt Eden Village Centre can easily be attended by using public transport. There are bus stops within one minute’s walk from the Centre. Bus lanes on Monday to Friday from 4.00pm to 7.00pm make taking the bus a great option for your travel. Visit Auckland Transport here to plan your journey.
By train
The Mt Eden Railway Station is on the Western Line and is easily accessible via a footbridge from Mt Eden Road. It is situated approximately one kilometre from Mt Eden Village. Visit Auckland Transport here to plan your journey.
By bike
For those who choose to come to an event by bicycle, there are two conveniently located bike stands in front of the Centre. We encourage our local board and Auckland council to continue to develop safe cycle lanes on the road so Mt Eden can be reached safely.
By car
Travelling to Mt Eden Village by car is very easy whether you are coming from a north, south, east or west direction. Mt Eden Village is located in the middle of the Auckland area and by using the motorway network getting to Mt Eden Village is simple.
Parking
The parking on Ngauruhoe Street is limited to P60 from Monday to Sunday, between 8.00am and 6.00pm. Paid parking in the Essex Road Carpark is $1.00ph for the first two hours, increasing to $2.00ph thereafter with no time limit. Most surrounding streets have restricted parking of either P60, P120 or P180.
Please be aware there is a clearway/Bus Lane from 7.00am to 10.00am on the Northbound lane of Mt Eden Road, and 4.00pm to 7.00pm on the Southbound lane of Mt Eden Road. Bus Lanes apply Monday to Friday. Auckland Transport applies a vigorous tow away policy.
Mobility parking
There are two mobility car parks located at the main entrance at 2 Ngauruhoe Street. The disability ramp is right beside the car parks allowing easy access to the centre by wheel chair.
Mt Eden – Maungawhau (Mount Eden)
There are wonderful walks around Maungawhau (Mount Eden), a volcano whose summit is 196 meters above sea level.

The Mt Eden Maungawhau Village Centre Society
The Mt Eden Maungawhau Village Centre Society focuses on working with the trust to most effectively manage the Mt Eden Village Centre. The Village Centre Society has delivered many successful events at the centre to inform and connect our community. Community lunches, speaker events and family fun days are some of the events. Decorative Artists Society NZ
We are a non-profit organisation with a focus on friendship, fellowship and fun, while promoting our decorative art through meetings, and related activities. We hold regular workshops and demonstrations. Members have access to our library, which contains an impressive selection of art books and magazines. New members are provided with classes to support their learning, and products can be purchased at the monthly classes. Mt Eden Village People
Mount Eden Village People is a community group, dedicated to positive change towards a more sustainable lifestyle within our community. To make this transformation happen the group is working together with our community and local businesses to minimise waste and to plant fruit trees on public land. This group also encourages people to buy locally and purchase their food from farmers markets.
Eden Arts
Eden Arts is a registered charitable arts trust that is proud to be celebrating its 31th year in 2018! Run by volunteers, the trust is committed to supporting, celebrating and promoting the arts and artists in the greater Mt Eden area. The group runs an annual calendar of events including Artists in Eden Day, Young Artists Awards and the new Mt Eden Chamber Music Festival, as well as literary dinners, theatre visits, musical matinees, art tours and a pub quiz with an arts twist. Mt Eden Community Garden:
A small committed group of gardeners meets every Sunday at 2pm – 4pm at the community garden located behind the Bowling Club at the end of Poronui Street. If you are interested in coming along please contact Michele on 021 216 1684 or 6300789 in the evenings.

Forest & Bird is New Zealand’s leading independent conservation organisation protecting and restoring our wildlife and wild places. Worship
Here at our beautiful historic Church, the Mt Eden Methodist congregation gathers every Sunday from 10-11am for a Sunday service held by our minister the Reverend Tevita Taufalele. The service is followed by light refreshments in the Lounge. Every third Sunday of the month, the Fiji indian Congregation meets at 3pm for a service in Hindi. New members are always welcome. Essex Reserve
Right opposite the Mt Eden Village centre you will find Essex Reserve, a small park with a popular playground – very useful also if you are having children’s birthday parties here at the centre. There is a table and bench in the reserve where you can enjoy your lunch.
