DESCRIPTION:This traditional gala event of the Eden Arts calendar is held in March each year and brings together a large number of recognised Auckland artists who draw and paint “live” in Mt Eden Village. Artists in Eden is Auckland’s longest running art event of its kind and a fabulous opportunity to enjoy some of the art talent which is such an integral part of the Mt Eden community. Entry is free and the public is encouraged to chat to the artists as they work. \nThe completed works are auctioned the same day to provide funds for community arts initiatives. Around 40 visual artists take part every year\, alongside children’s art activities\, live music\, and the opportunity to win an artwork by a local artist in the raffle. SUMMARY:School of Voice and Drama
DESCRIPTION:School of Voice and Drama workshops are designed to be fun and positive experiences whilst covering a range of dynamic speaking and dramatic skills – including public speaking\, debating\, presenting to camera\, poetry and prose speaking\, prepared and sight reading\, Bible reading\, vocal expressiveness\, mime\, improvisation and scripted drama. Workshops run from mid February to November.  There is the opportunity to gain qualifications in Communication Skills and Public Speaking\, or Theatre Skills (SpeechNZ and Trinity College). These can be sat in pairs\, groups\, or as individuals. Diploma studies (university level) are offered in year 13. Exam fees are extra costs. We aim to showcase the learning in a Parent Showcase at least once a year. Students gain confidence in expressing and presenting themselves well\, develop vocal expressiveness and clarity of voice\, integrity and respect\, memory training\, teamwork\, co-operation\, perseverance\, diligence\, tolerance and judgement.  There is no doubt that having a confident\, expressive and artistic voice is an asset in today’s world. \nAdult classes with Dynamic Speaking NZ also available.

SUMMARY:Fiji-Indian Fellowship
DESCRIPTION:The Fiji-Indian Fellowship provides a monthly worship service at Mt Eden Methodist Church in Hindi each month\, on the third Sunday of the month\, at 3.00pm.  The Fellowship was established in 1988. The members all belong to local churches as well\, and gather from the wider Auckland area. \nThe fellowship also holds ad-hoc meetings as required\, for instance\, to meet an overseas visitor. There are also home-based prayer meetings\, weddings and marriage blessings.  These include many people who are not church members\, and are seen as a means of community building.  Prayers are also offered in hospitals and homes.
