February 2023

Dear all,

We are thinking of our local and wider Auckland communities after the devastating rainfall on Friday and again on Tuesday. Information, including where to find support, is available on the Auckland Council website. The Mt Eden Village Centre continues to operate and many events and classes are back for 2023.

The Mt Eden Craft Market welcomes you to their first market of 2023 on February 11 from 9.30am to 3.00pm. They have a diverse range of crafters, all with New Zealand hand made products. Purchases over $10 on the day go into the draw for a dining voucher from local eatery The Garden Shed. Like them on Facebook or Instagram for more information.

On Saturday 18 February we have the rescheduled Chinese New Year Festival here at the Village Centre from 10.00am to 5.00pm. Delayed because of the weather, it will be the perfect day to come and celebrate Chinese New Year. You will experience the beauty of Chinese culture and embrace Chinese traditions. Come and learn about Chinese knots, paper cut, calligraphy couplets, sugar art and Teaism. There will also be Hanfu (Ancient Chinese dress) for you to try on and take photos. And of course, lots of delicious Chinese food! Come and celebrate the Year of the Rabbit together!

Our young people will be happy that Pform and Raw Dance classes restart this month. Pform.nz Performing Arts Classes for children aged 5 to 18 are here from Tuesday 7 February after school. For more information and to book please visit their website here. Nervous? They offer a free trial.

Raw Dance is here after school on Mondays and Wednesdays offering a number of different dance genres for students from 3 years old. Your dancer will develop a love of dance in a warm and friendly environment with highly qualified teachers. For more information or to enrol for a free trial visit their website here. We’re so looking forward to having the buzz of young artists in our Hall again!

Looking ahead to Saturday 1 April our popular Little Day Out event will return so mark your diaries and we will have more information in our next newsletter!

Ngā mihi/Best wishes
